Welcome to Bazzflyfishing!
For a very long time there has been a problem with discussing fly casting technique here in Sweden.
Often when guys that are new to the art of fly casting ask questions on forums they got answers like:
" -You don't need to cast far. - Most fishes are caught in close range, why bother to train?" and so on..
I really think that's sad since the actual cast is a fantastic thing to look deeper at than that!
I think this is getting better here in Sweden, but we still have a long way to go.
I decided to try and make a web site where people that are interested in fly casting could feel safe to ask
anything they have in mind. Anything from the simplest of questions down to crazy discussion about things
as loop formations, rods counter flex or even the physics of the cast.
What happened is that the web site grew fast and many of the worlds finest fly casters comes by to help
out, which is simply amazing!
This is really turning out to become a great place to hang around for us who want to learn more about
fly casting.
The fly casting section on the forum is runned by me and the swedish fly casting instructor Stefan Siikavaara.
Stefan is the one to blame for my insane interest of fly casting and i see him as a close friend and mentor.
When he's not teaching fly casting or helping the guys out in the forum he is writing fly casting articles in
one of sweden's biggest fly fishing magazines.
The fly tying forum has also grown into something fantastic. Some of sweden's most known tiers are around
here showing their stuff and helping others. I'm really happy that fantastic and well known tiers from other
countries are sharing their knowledge with us here as well!
I have big hopes that this will inspire people to start tying themself, and that Bazzflyfishing can be a great help on the way.
About Me
My name is Bassel and I'm working as flycasting instructor & with tackle design for the fly fishing label Scierra here in Sweden.
I was honored when i was asked to join the Scierra Crew and take the job very seriously. If there is one thing
that i enjoy more than fly fishing and fly casting, then its to help others get more out of it!
"To teach is to learn twice" that's what a good friend told me once, and that's really true.
I learn so much from these sessions, and what's better than to see the look on somebody's face as he starts
casting tight narrow loops with a hugh smile between his ears ;)
I truly hope that you all enjoy the site and all the great people that's hanging around here!
Best regards Bassel "Bazz"
